Smith Named DAC Player of Week

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Richland's Trey Smith was selected as the Dallas Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

It is the second time he's won the award this season.

A sophomore outfielder from San Antonio, Smith batted .615, going 8 for 13 with five doubles, a home run, eight runs batted in, five runs scored and two walks as No. 6 Richland swept a three-game series with Dallas College Mountain View. Smith had a 1.231 slugging percentage and 1.856 on-base plus slugging percentage during the week. He went 6 for 6 with four doubles and three RBI in a 15-12 win. His home run came in Game 1 in the series. He drove in multiple runs in each of the three games.

Smith is batting a team-leading .433 with a nation-leading 23 doubles, eight home runs and 51 RBI, which ranks third in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III.

The Thunderducks (25-15, 14-4 DAC) play Cisco College 3 p.m. Monday at Dallas College North Lake before beginning a three-game series noon Wednesday at Dallas College Brookhaven. The final two games of the series are scheduled to be played at Richland.
