Posten Named National Pitcher of Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Richland's JT Posten was selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Pitcher of the Week.
A freshman right-hander from Lampass, Texas, Posten picked up a win and a save, without allowing an earned run in three relief appearances last week. He pitched 7.2 innings, allowing two unearned runs, two hits and four walks, and struck out six. The Thunderducks won all three games he pitched.
Posten earned the win in Richland's Game 3 victory at Dallas College Mountain View Saturday. He tossed 3.2 innings, giving up two walks and a pair of unearned runs to improve to 2-0 this year. In the first game of the series with the Lions, he worked the final three innings of shutout relief to earn the save, surrendering a hit and two walks, while fanning a season-high five. In a 9-7 nonconference win at National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Ranger College earlier in the week, he pitched one shutout inning, allowing one hit and striking out one batter.
Posten carried a 3.60 earned run average and 14 strikeouts in 20 innings over seven relief appearances into the week.
Richland (9-9-1, 2-2 DAC) is in the midst of a three-game series with Dallas College Brookhaven (7-14, 2-2). The final two games are scheduled for Wednesday and Friday.
