Tarver Named National Player of Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Richland's Jase Tarver has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

A 6-foot-4 freshman forward from Lancaster, Texas, Tarver scored 24 points in both of the No. 1-ranked Thunderducks' wins last week, while averaging nine rebounds and three steals and shooting 65.4 percent from the floor and 92.8 percent at the free throw line. He had 24 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and a block, while hitting nine of 14 field goals and all six free throws in a win at Dallas College Cedar Valley. Tarver had 24 points, six rebounds and three steals, while making eight of 12 field goals and seven of eight free throws as Richland wrapped up the DAC regular season championship with a victory at Dallas College Mountain View.

Tarver is averaging 15.5 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.

Richland (20-6, 13-0 DAC) will finish the regular season with a road game at Dallas College Eastfield (18-8, 10-3) at 6 p.m. Wednesday and a home game against Dallas College North Lake (17-10, 9-4) at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Thunderducks will host the NJCAA Division III South Central District Tournament semifinals and championship Friday, Feb. 27 and Saturday, Feb. 28.
