No. 1 Richland Men's Soccer Wins 50th Consecutive Conference Match

DALLAS – Dallas College Richland men's soccer team beat Dallas College Cedar Valley 4-1 Wednesday.

It was the No. 1-ranked Thunderducks' 50^th consecutive conference victory. Richland improved to 6-0-1 overall, 2-0-0 in the Dallas Athletic Conference.

Richland's Dubbie Cannon scored two first half goals, offsetting one by Cedar Valley's Willofiam Ojage to take a 2-1 lead into the break. Cannon scored two minutes into the match, and then broke a 1-1 tie after Ojage scored in the 15^th minute on an assist from Jose Contreras by cashing in for his second goal in the 27^th minute. Edgar Chavelas and Charles Chimezie assisted on the goals.

In the second half, the Thunderducks extended the lead to two goals when Alex Valdez capitalized in the 55^th minute on an assist from Abdiel Pineda. Mazin Saeed scored on an assist from Valdez in the 83^rd minute for an insurance goal.

Richland outshot Cedar Valley 20-6.

Cedar Valley keeper Jair Quintanilla made 14 saves in 83 minutes. Bennett Woodworth stopped two shots in the final seven minutes.

Richland will host NJCAA Division I No. 4 Eastern Florida State College (7-1-0) at 6 p.m. Saturday.
