No. 1 Richland Men's Soccer Wins 50th Consecutive Conference Match

DALLAS – Dallas College Richland men's soccer team beat Dallas College Cedar Valley 4-1 Wednesday.

It was the No. 1-ranked Thunderducks' 50th consecutive conference victory. Richland improved to 6-0-1 overall, 2-0-0 in the Dallas Athletic Conference.

Richland's Dubbie Cannon scored two first half goals, offsetting one by Cedar Valley's Willofiam Ojage to take a 2-1 lead into the break. Cannon scored two minutes into the match, and then broke a 1-1 tie after Ojage scored in the 15th minute on an assist from Jose Contreras by cashing in for his second goal in the 27th minute. Edgar Chavelas and Charles Chimezie assisted on the goals.

In the second half, the Thunderducks extended the lead to two goals when Alex Valdez capitalized in the 55th minute on an assist from Abdiel Pineda. Mazin Saeed scored on an assist from Valdez in the 83rd minute for an insurance goal.

Richland outshot Cedar Valley 20-6.

Cedar Valley keeper Jair Quintanilla made 14 saves in 83 minutes. Bennett Woodworth stopped two shots in the final seven minutes.

Richland will host NJCAA Division I No. 4 Eastern Florida State College (7-1-0) at 6 p.m. Saturday.
