Beard Named DAC Player of the Week

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Richland's Paris Beard was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

It is the second time this season Beard has won the league's weekly honor. 

A 5-foot-7 freshman guard from Mount Pleasant, Texas, Beard averaged 38.5 points, six rebounds, nine steals and 4.5 assists as the Thunderducks won both games last week. She went 32 of 54 from the field, including 5 of 15 from three-point range, and 8-for-12 at the free throw line.

Beard broke her own school record for points in a game when she put up 43 points in an 83-76 win over No. 14-ranked Dallas College Mountain View. She also broke her school record with 17 field goals in that victory, and had nine rebounds, four steals and three assists. Earlier in the week, she scored 34 points, and set the school record with 14 steals, while dishing out six assists in a 77-49 win over East Teas Baptist University Junior Varsity.

Beard is averaging 24.1 points, 7.6 rebounds and 3.6 steals per game.

Richland (5-9, 1-1 DAC) hosts Southwestern Assemblies of God University 6 p.m. Monday and play at No. 7 Dallas College Cedar Valley 6 p.m. Tuesday.
