No. 15 Richland Outlasts No. 9 Brookhaven in 5
FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Fifteenth-ranked Dallas College Richland outlasted ninth-ranked Dallas College Brookhaven in five sets Thursday in a key Dallas Athletic Conference volleyball match.
The Thunderducks beat the host Bears, 25-17, 20-25, 25-16, 19-25, 15-11, in a back-and-forth battle.
The win keeps Richland (15-14, 5-3 DAC) bunched in a logjam with Brookhaven (14-11, 5-3) and Dallas College North Lake (15-14, 5-3) for the second place spot in the league. No. 1 Dallas College Eastfield (26-1, 8-0) clinched the conference championship for a second straight year following its win Thursday. Two conference matches remain for each team next week.
Richland's Kensington Jordon blasted a career-high 26 kills on 64 swings for a .328 hitting percentage. Jersey Glass had 13 kills and three blocks, and hit .367. Jordan Connolly had nine kills and a block, and Parker Kimball six kills, 20 assists and three aces. Isabella Foutz finished with 33 assists, an ace and nine digs. Kara Washington had 23 digs, and Myra Memon 16 digs and two aces.
Brookhaven's McKenzie Mitchell pounded 14 kills, and had 23 digs, three aces and a .297 attack percentage. Holland Hickman had 10 kills, three blocks, and hit .400. Lyrick Bridges and Caroline Simpson each had nine kills and two aces. Bridges added four blocks, and Simpson 14 digs. Emma Borders finished with 19 assists, 10 digs and an ace. Mia Gonzalez had 14 assists and 11 digs. Fiona Larsen had 17 digs and an ace.
The Thunderducks play at Mountain View 6 p.m. Monday before hosting North Lake to end the regular season 6 p.m. Thursday.
